Digging In! Rosenblum at Capital Roots Troy Garden

The Rosenblum Companies team put in some serious sweat equity on an unseasonably hot May day for our latest volunteer event.

At Rosenblum, we make it a point to come together at least quarterly for a hands on activity supporting organizations doing impactful work in Capital Region communities. It’s an essential part of our company mission and culture, as well as a chance to step away from the day-to-day for some fun and fulfilling team work outside of our different departments.

This time, we partnered with Capital Roots in Troy, not far from three of our properties, Sol Apartments, The News Apartments, and Vicina Modern Urban Flats, to help reclaim an abandoned and overgrown community garden – one of 55 gardens that Capital Roots manages in the Capital Region – in time for the summer growing season. Team members cleared brush, spread mulch, and built raised beds. The before and after were striking, both in the physical transformation of the garden space and even more so, for the promise of fresh produce on neighbors’ tables.

Experiences like this align with our core values of setting a higher bar and taking the long view by investing our time and energy into organizations that strengthen the region for everyone.

We’ve had the privilege of partnering with Capital Roots for many years and we are grateful to their team for allowing us to play a small part in the important work of creating equitable access to fresh food and green (“better”) spaces.
