We had the pleasure of hosting Larry Rulison and Lori Van Buren from the Times Union at the new Rosenblum Companies HQ in Great Oaks Office Park this week.

Seth Rosenblum, CEO of The Rosenblum Companies, and Jeff Mirel, EVP, discussed the changing dynamics of commercial real estate in Tech Valley’s knowledge economy and how Rosenblum is staying ahead of the curve, creating innovative workplaces that promote collaboration and innovation.

From the article:

“While the high-tech clean rooms at the NanoCollege and GlobalFoundries have been the showcase spaces in the Capital Region in recent years, officials at Rosenblum believe the next wave of innovation will be in the office space market.

To take advantage of this, Rosenblum CEO Seth Rosenblum has remade the company’s headquarters space into a colorful “Innovation Lab” that reflects the office space needs — and tastes — of the new wave of tech companies moving into the Capital Region.

Rosenblum hired local high-tech executive Jeffrey Mirel, who helped create a municipal WiFi network for the city of Albany when he worked for Tech Valley Communications. Mirel also has worked in urban development.

Rosenblum said he believes that even while some companies have downsized in the wake of the recession, the high-tech manufacturers and service companies establishing offices here are looking for high-end spaces with amenities that have to measure up to what they are used to in places like Boston, the Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas.”
